Imperial Power

EDIT
So I was unhappy that he didn't have enough going on with his cloak and his shirt. They seemed too plain in comparison to the rest of his outfit. So I did what I always do with things...over-complicate it. Added in some embroidery patterns into his cloak and shirt and also added some extra shading here and there to make everything pop. Yeah.

He stood with his characteristic emerald green eyes fixated on the tips of his joined index finger and thumb. And slowly a wisp of multi-colored smoke started to emanate from a point of light where his fingers met. The light glittering as it hit his golden crown. This...this was the power of the Imperials.

Another old, un-finished drawing that I dug up and finished for the sake of finishing it. Re-vamped it a little bit before I finished the coloring process.

I'm working on creating moods in my drawings now. This one was a bit of a failed attempt at trying to evoke a feeling of being the presence of power. But eh...I post anyway so that I can look back and see how horrible I was, once upon a time. lol

Actually, what I'm most proud of design-wise is his "crown" which I fashioned after deer antlers. Deer look incredibly majestic with their antlers like nature-made crowns. And so rather than draw a typical royal crown, I drew in a headdress that looked somewhat like deer antlers with a Roman-like twist to make it look also like a laurel crown. I'm a little sad that I couldn't keep the motif up for the rest of the image since I started this so long ago and put it away. So it looks like different parts of him are from different places (maybe he's a traveler?).

Fun fact about this piece is that I originally did it as a "draw-it-again" sort of thing of this deviation:

But somehow, it also merged with this deviation:

And became what it is now. >___>;; I actually quite like the final product.
