"There was still time before the mission took place, but just to be sure he wouldn't be late, he crouched atop the city wall closest to his target. Feeling the light wind he pulled down his mask and hood to breathe in some of the cool night air. However, it was not a time for him to be taking a break.
He had a limited number of openings, limited number of throws, and a limited amount of time. There was no room for mistakes. He held his shuriken ready at hand, tensing his muscles slightly for behing a ninja in this day and age was still a dangerous job and one never knows when or where the enemy shall strike."
Hahaha~ Just a short story to go with the picture, but no. It's not part of a series or manga or anything. Just an original character. XP
I just wanted to get some more of my 100 Themes Challenges done and out of the way.
The theme this time was:
Rather than take a typical route of a ninja wearing all black, wearing bandages and fishnets, or making a Naruto-esque ninja, I wanted to take a modern approach and drew references from pop art. I wanted this ninja to take place in modern day and time, be fashionable and be a little less monochromatic than the ninja back in the day. Though I realize that his mission is in stealth, therefore I made most of his colors a gunmetal kind of gray with some dark purples here and there along with the occasional pop of bright color to make the design less dull.
I also took a kind of different approach to color in that I started using dark colors first before layering lighter colors on top. This way, the colors appear darker but more vibrant. The background is mostly all watercolour, but the moon and character are all done with Copic markers.
As of now, I have only completed THREE of the hundred themes I'm trying to complete. Good lord...I will be an old lady before I see the day this list is done. ;A;
Here's the entire list of the themes that I am undertaking if you are interested: [link]
-Copic Sketch Marker
-Adobe Photoshop CS5 (for brightness and contrast editing)
-3 days (1 for concept/sketch, 1 for inking and some preliminary colouring, 1 for finishing and Photoshopping)
